GWO Crane and Hoist User

This is a 1.5-day (14-hour) course designed for wind industry personnel who are required to operate small, fixed cranes and hoists (below 8 ton-meters) during routine onshore or offshore work.

The training provides participants with the essential knowledge and safe working practices needed to use lifting equipment correctly in a wind turbine environment, in accordance with manufacturer instructions and relevant legislation.

Participants learn about their responsibilities as basic users, the key components and functionality of fixed cranes and hoists, and how to perform basic lifting operations while supporting their own safety and that of others.

The course focuses on awareness, correct use, and compliance, and is intended for operators rather than personnel responsible for maintenance, inspection, or certification of lifting equipment.

Training is delivered in accordance with the GWO Crane and Hoist Standard issued by the Global Wind Safety Organisation.
